Photography for this movie was started in the middle of October 2013 and completed when the final dog came out of the LEGO City 2013 Advent Calendar in December 2013.

When working with LEGO, it is very easy to have a messy work area covered with loose parts. To minimize this, we generally connect unused parts to a baseplate or part of the movie set that won't be seen by the camera. Hence the unused minifigure parts on the top left of the set in this picture.
